Homework. Homework Policy. We have reviewed our previous homework policy in order to respond to parental feedback regarding the existing system. In particular, our aim is to make homework consistent for students in a Key Stage whichever class they may be in, and to ensure that the homework that is set is a meaningful and productive exercise which enhances their progress and understanding of.
Homework can be a useful way of practising what has been learned at school and deepening understanding of the topics covered. We understand that families’ individual circumstances mean that some prefer lots of homework while others prefer very little. There are two aspects to homework: tasks that are compulsory and tasks that are optional.The details for each year group are below.
Homework books will be sent home every Friday and each week I would like pupils to complete one of the tasks within the chilli challenge grid. This will be due in every Wednesday. It is up to pupils which difficulty level they would like to choose their task from. The homework will be based on the Cornerstones topic that we are learning about in class and each half term, a new homework sheet.
Homework; Year 1 Homework; Year one Have their weekly spelling test on a Thursday and have a copy of the words to practise at home. We advise children to practise their words daily. Children are expected to read at least 3-5 times per week and for parents to record this in the children's reading diaries. We have always found homework to be a major problem for children and one for which parents find it difficult to provide a solution. There are a number of reasons for this. For many families, there is simply not enough time during the week to deal with the child’s increasing volume of homework. Children can then become anxious about meeting the deadline for completing their school homework.

Homework tasks are set during lessons and can also be accessed via the school website. Pupils are expected to allocate up to 60 minutes to each homework task, depending on the nature of the task. Homework tasks are attempted in a homework exercise book which pupils are issued with at the start of the year. Each homework task is marked before the next one is set. Pupils have 1 week to complete.
Homework. All homework in Lions class will be set online. Children will recieve weekly spellings and maths homework online via spelling and maths shed. This can be used as either a website address on a computer or downloaded as a free app on any supporting device. The spellings will focus on the spelling patterns and words listed in the national curriculum. The maths homework will be.
Homework will alternate between online work one week and then written the next. It is, however, important to note that homework shouldn't be taking hours. If there is any kind of issue at all then please do let me know as soon as possible.
